ALVARADO EXTENDED LEARNING PROGRAM

The Alvarado Extended Program run by GLO has 4 components:

  • The Writers Workshop
  • The Tutoring Program
  • The Recreation Program
  • The Dance Program

The objectives of the Alvarado Extended Learning Program are:

  • To develop literacy and writing skills for students struggling with these areas in the classroom.
  • To implement quality curricula for small groups of children at Alvarado School. (32 students in 8 groups of 4)
  • To provide places in a quality after-school program for more children at Alvarado School and to give them the skills and motivation to succeed at home and at school.
  • To provide a balanced academic and recreational program, developmentally appropriate for each age group to enhance school studies and encourage social and emotional progress.

The Program’s Success

  • The program succeeds thanks to its structure:
  • Writers Workshops tutors and teachers work on a 1:4 teacher to children ratio.
  • The program offers tutoring help, dance instruction and recreational activities such sports to children attending the program.
